Institute for Global Justice & Security

The Institute for Global Justice & Security (IGJS) focuses on conducting research, evaluation, and capacity building that advances academic studies, policy making capabilities, and program/project development and implementation related to issues of global justice and security. In recent years, major focuses of the Institute include:

  • Human exploitation and trafficking
  • Violence against women and women’s human rights
  • Violence against children and child rights
  • Victim advocacy and support services
  • Access to justice
  • Criminal justice system (police, prosecution, and punishment)
  • Human and national security

The Institute collaborates with other universities, governments, criminal justice agencies, international organizations, nongovernmental organizations, and the private sector.

It is the goal of the Institute to benefit society by undertaking projects that seek to make a difference in communities throughout the world by advancing improved knowledge that informs and facilitates improvements in governmental policies and practices, and promotes capacity building and “best practices” that improve the well-being of communities and their citizens.
